Mark Shakespeare’s birthday with these fun homewares
Famous play write William Shakespeare will have his 448th birthday on Monday and we think you should celebrate.
April 23 has been accepted as Shakespeare’s birthday and is every year marked with plays, sonnets and plenty of excitement in his birth town of Stratford-upon-Avon.
We have found some fantastic Shakespeare-inspired homewares for the occasion.
Film-maker and artist Sarah Cole spends her spare time designing mugs.
Each is hand-drawn and made of glazed bone china.
She features William Shakespeare in one of the historical-themed designs.
The quirky portrait has a fun timeline and includes information such as the fact that Shakespeare left his ‘second-best bed’ to his wife in his will.
The mug is stocked by Liberty, Selfridges, The National Portrait Gallery and English Heritage but you can also purchase it from her website.
For something a bit bigger and brighter Easy Art has a range of Shakespeare prints and canvasses.
We have chosen our favourite from the collection which includes two posters of the English poet with an image of his home at Stratford-upon-Avon and reference to the train route to reach it.
Another very unique print is a traditional image of the play write which has been morphed into Zombie Shakespeare.
Finally, while this may not be a homeware we could not resist including these hilarious under garments from Twisted Tee.
The underwear or Bard Pants feature an image of Shakespeare you can wear around all day long.
